Keeping in view of the fact that two third of the total population in India live in rural areas and the rural economy contributed nearly half the nation’s overall GDP in 2019–2020, rural development can be considered as a crucial factor for accelerating the country's overall economic expansion. To meet up these objectives few areas that demand more focused attention and new initiatives are
• Education • Public Health and Sanitation • Infrastructure Development (e.g. road network, sewerage network, electricity, irrigation, etc.) • Facilities for agriculture extension and research • Availability of different financial grants and assistance • Employment opportunityWeb based Panchayat GIS system would help to plan & manage various interlinked services in an integrated fashion with geospatial view of desired panchayat area, resources linked with the corresponding up-to-date database. The databases would possess attributes of every asset like - taxable property, Road, street light, Sewerage & Drainage Network, Market & community halls, park & Play Ground, Overhead Tank, Water Pumping Station & water supply network etc. Spatial & non-spatial query and the generation of thematic map from proposed system would have high visual impact and could be used for assessment of several sectors such as for water network planning, property mapping by assessor, maintenance of roads, street lights and civic amenities services etc. The Panchayat Web-GIS system would help to export and print the generated maps for any specific usage by the concerned field officer, or the property owner at any point of time thereby saving cost and time. A regular update of the spatial and non-spatial database will keep this GIS System in an up-to-date position facilitating sharing of real time data for better decision making.
